Data migration - KLP Norway
KLP - Kommunal Landspensjonskasse - is one of Norway's largest life insurance companies. Its customers are in the local government sector and the state health enterprises, as well as businesses both in the public and the private sectors.
KLP had a legacy content management system and needed to transition to a more up to date solution. With advice from IBM, they selected IBM FileNet Enterprise Content Management software.
Challenges they faced
The major challenge that KLP faced was that they needed to migrate the data from the legacy system to FileNet, but they needed to do this one department at a time and still maintain the appropriate level of access to existing files to their employees. They had over 4 million documents to transfer.
How we helped
Portal’s Enterprise Content Management Solution Architect, Charlotte Wilson, worked closely with KLP and IBM Norway on this project. By developing a migration routine to transfer the metadata from the legacy system to FileNet and to convert the files from a proprietary format to an industry standard format, Charlotte enabled KLP to transition each department at the appropriate time. Through this there has been minimal impact on the day-to-day business from the users’ point of view.
