Portal Wins Prestigious 2016 IBM Beacon Award
Portal’s innovative Exceptional Student Experience solution, built on IBM technology, garners ‘best in class’ accolade from IBM.
Portal, a leading business and technology consultancy, today confirmed it has been named as winner of the 2016 IBM Beacon Award for Outstanding Social Business Solution. The award was announced at the recent IBM PartnerWorld Leadership Conference in Orlando, where Portal was again recognised for its advanced expertise as a world-class strategic solution provider.
As the premier award programme for IBM Business Partners, each year the IBM Beacon Awards recognise firms that demonstrate an ability to deliver innovation and measurable results for customers. Winners are selected by a panel of expert judges that include IBM executives, industry analysts and members of the press. This year’s accolade comes in the wake of Portal’s previous 2015 IBM Beacon Award win for Outstanding Solution for Midsize Businesses.
“Gaining recognition for our IBM Exceptional Student Experience solution validates the measurable value we are able to generate for customers in the education sector – both here in the UK and overseas” said Jon Bradshaw, managing director, Portal. “This year’s Beacon Award win for our work with the US-based Richard Bland College demonstrates how, by combining deep industry expertise with Cloud, Analytics, Mobile, Social and Security technologies, we’re able to enable education institutions around the world to reinvent their education delivery and campus operations.”
Following implementation of Portal’s Exceptional Student Experience (ESE) solution in August 2015, Richard Bland College has already seen some extraordinary results. Student recruitment for the academic year is up 20% and the College is on track to reduce student dropouts by 25%. Meanwhile a new social portal now enables applicants, learners, lecturers, alumni and employers to connect, collaborate and innovate. A series of projects will see the portal enable around one million social connections a year with people and institutions around the world, putting this small rural college in Virginia well and truly on the global stage.
“The 2016 Beacon Award winners are Business Partners who have demonstrated the ability to transform how their industries do business through cognitive computing – delivering advanced solutions that enable clients to understand their businesses more deeply, predict the consequences of actions, and make better decisions,” said Marc Dupaquier, general manager, IBM Global Business Partners. “We’re pleased to recognise Portal with a Beacon Award for Outstanding Social Business Solution for consistently delivering value to clients with innovative IBM solutions.”
