Portal's vision and leadership is spearheaded by the following people.

Shamus Kelly - Managing Director

Shamus has many years of experience within technology companies, particularly in the software industry (including 10 years in senior management positions at Lotus Development UK). Shamus gained entrepreneurial and smaller business skills founding and growing NetInfo, which became part of Portal in 2006.

Most recently, Shamus worked as Managing Director of Software Radio Technology plc (SRT), taking this company through private and institutional fund raising before a successful listing on the AIM market in November 2005.

Shamus re-joined Portal in January 2007.

Peter West - Finance Director

Peter trained as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers and Lybrand, qualifiying in 1984.

Since then, Peter has worked as Chief Accountant or Finance Director in a number of SMEs, with particular experience in the IT industry and Professional Services, before becoming Finance Director for Portal.

Steve Seymour - Technical Director

Steve has worked for Portal since 1999 - initially joining the Network Services team responsible for the internal and customer hosting infrastructure. He was appointed Technical Director in April 2011.

Steve brings a wealth of technology experience to his role through having worked at ISPs in the past and more recently as an Infrastructure, Network and IBM Collaboration Solutions consultant. He works closely with our customers and partners to promote the technology skills within Portal.

Rob Wirszycz - Chairman

Rob brings almost 30 years experience business growth to Portal. Prior to joining Portal, Rob has had a number of notable experiences including growing a value added reseller business from 4 to 300 people in the early 90s, running the UK IT industry trade association (now called Intellect), working as Marketing and Strategy Director for EDS (now HP Enterprise Services), and running two well-funded ‘dot-coms’.

Rob has been ‘plural’ since 2002 and works with a number of IT and media businesses. He brings strategy, marketing, sales, partnering, and business growth skills and expertise to Portal.

Nicholas Birtles - Non-Executive Director

Nicholas, known as Nic, brings over 40 years of International IT business experience to Portal. Prior to joining Portal, Nic has had a number of notable positions, including establishing Ingres, the main Relational Database competitor to Oracle in Europe and has grown it from scratch to over 1500 staff in 17 countries including Asia Pacific in 5 years. He also spent 10 years in California's Silicon Valley during the Dot.com boom and bust, initially as Head of Worldwide Sales for Gupta and then CEO of Constellar, which provided Enterprise Application Integration Software & Services.

Since returning to the UK in 2002 and going "plural", Nic has worked with a number of fast growing IT companies to help them expand their sales and marketing, which he hopes to do with Portal. Nic has also established a very active Entrepreneurship mentoring group within the Information Technologists' (Livery) Company, where he is also very active, helping to give something back.
